Two mornings previous, I picked up decent audio from HLAZ in South Korea. On the 22nd, there was a major opening to Asia, with HLAZ again, but also many other stations with audio or at least carriers. Continue reading

I have a lot of logs and recordings from the last several weeks to put up, but this morning I picked up decent audio from the the powerhouse station HLAZ from the Republic of Korea. It operates at 250kW and is run by the Christian broadcaster FEBC. The following might not be the absolute best audio I had, but gives a good representation. This is a Chinese broadcast, I believe, at around 13:26UT [actually, this must be Japanese]:

And, then again at 13:42UT with a female voice and a bit more bleed in from a station on 1570kHz:

I started listening at 13:20UT, more than an hour before local sunrise. However, as the top of the next hour (14UT) approached, the signal gradually faded out so I could barely hear anything by that point when I was hoping for a top-of-the-hour identification.
